Hey friends!

I am excited to tell you the Lord is so present in this place. He is teaching and revealing Himself to me in new ways everyday and I am so thankful. I am loving the simplicity of life here, and the time we get to learn and process all that is being taught to us.

In the past week we were asked to choose a team name. This would be something to describe the culture we wanted our team to live in over the next months. It is something we want to speak over ourselves and grow in as individuals, as well as a team. It is our identity as a sisterhood and a promise we believe the Lord is speaking over us for this season of our lives. As you can imagine, this was not an easy task to complete. We spent several days thinking about it, praying, and asking the Lord what He had for us. Finally, we came to a decision.

Our team name is Yashab!

*pronounced Ya-shav*

This is Hebrew for the word remain. The meaning includes the words dwell, sit, endure, and abide. We chose Hebrew because it is the original language Psalms were written in, and we wanted it to be that much closer to the original word and meaning we were trying to get at. Each of us individually felt that the Lord was telling us in some way or another to stay and wait for what He has for us this year. Each of us made the decision to stay with the World Race despite all the uncertainty of what might happen over the next months, with our eyes set on the prize of all we believe is to come this year. We are choosing to wait on the promises of the Lord and remain together in Him and all He has for us. We were immediately led to Psalm 91:1-2

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and, my fortress, my God in whom I trust.”

We, as a team, want to be women who trust full heartedly in the Lord and go to Him first in times of trouble. He is our hiding place and our safety. Because of this, we believe we are able to be used by Him. We were then led to John 15:4-5

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

We are nothing outside of Him. Anything that we can do or say will turn to rubbish if He is not in it.

We are so excited about this team name and cannot wait to see all the ways the Lord will grow us in abiding in Him. We are each choosing to remain in all that He has for us this year, despite the uncertainty or hardships that may arise. We believe this is our identity as a team and are ready to see the Lord reveal Himself to us through this name He has spoken over us.

MISSIONS UPDATE:

World Race Gap Year is partnering with Samaritan’s Purse with disaster recovery in the South! So, sometime near the end of October (we don’t know exact dates yet) we get to go off campus for a week as a squad to help with disaster recovery from hurricanes in the South (we don’t know where yet). I am so excited about this opportunity to get to go off campus to serve with my squad! We will get to be challenged and placed in a new space and serve in the name of Jesus together. Please be praying that the kinks within this opportunity would get worked out and the Lord would lead us in safety to wherever He has for us to go.

A fun picture of my lovely team 🙂
